The Hyde Park Parakeets is part of Susannah Weiland's Royal Park Life collection — a series of original hand embroidered artworks celebrating the birds and wildlife of London's iconic royal parks. Working from a photograph she took, her tonal pencil drawing of two ring-necked parakeets perched amongst a tangle of bare winter branches was printed onto cotton-satin fabric and hand embroidered using fine machine embroidery threads, bringing the outstretched feathers alive with shimmering teals, greens and blues that most observers never know are there, hidden beneath the surface of this boldest of garden birds. Sold in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Limited edition prints are available to buy.
