Richmond Deer by Susannah Weiland, in a white frame. An original hand embroidery showing three fallow deer gathered around the ancient weathered trunk of a Richmond Park tree, with small black birds perched at its crown. The deer are stitched in warm tawny gold and cream on cotton-satin fabric, set against a tonal pencil-drawn landscape of twisted wood, deep grass and open sky. From the Royal Park Life collection.

Richmond Deer - Original Embroidery

The Richmond Deer is part of Susannah Weiland's Royal Park Life collection — a series of original hand embroidered artworks celebrating the birds and wildlife of London's iconic royal parks. Working from a photograph taken in the park, Susannah created a tonal pencil drawing of fallow deer grazing beneath the weathered trunk of one of Richmond's ancient trees, small birds perched silently at its crown. Printed onto cotton-satin fabric and hand embroidered using fine machine embroidery threads, the work brings the warm dappled coats of the deer to life against an intricately pencilled landscape of twisted wood, deep grasses and open sky — evoking the timeless, unhurried atmosphere of the park in a single scene. A unique original artwork, mounted, framed and available for sale.
