Royal Park Life
These works combine tonal pencil drawing with hand embroidery to explore the wildlife and character of London’s Royal Parks.
Each piece begins with observation, captured through photography and drawing. From these studies, tonal illustrations are developed and then printed onto cotton or silk fabric, where they are further worked into with hand embroidery.
Thread is used as a drawing tool, adding colour, texture, and detail to the original image. By layering stitch over drawn forms, the works build depth and subtle variation, bringing the subjects to life through a combination of processes.
Each piece takes many hours to complete and is entirely made by hand.
